About the Fruit

The Native American Seedling Persimmon is a treasured fruit steeped in tradition and sweetness. Known for its rich, honey-like flavor, this indigenous gem ripens to a vibrant orange-red hue, signaling its readiness to be enjoyed. Each persimmon is a delightful treat, perfect for fresh eating or for culinary exploration in pies, puddings, and jams. Relish in the legacy and unparalleled taste that this native fruit brings to your table.

What to Know About the Tree

Embodying the resilience of the land it originates from, the Native American Seedling Persimmon tree is a deciduous wonder. It showcases stunning foliage that transitions from deep green to fiery autumnal colors before the leaves drop. This tree is noteworthy for its ability to thrive in a variety of soils and its low maintenance nature, making it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced gardeners. Standing proud at 35-60 feet when fully grown, its striking appearance is matched by its generous yield of succulent fruits.

Harvest Season

The harvest season of the Native American Seedling Persimmon is a time of abundance and celebration, typically beginning in late fall. As the cooler air sets in, the trees become laden with sweet, plump fruits that are ripe and ready to be picked. The persimmons’ warm tones stand out against the increasingly bare branches, offering a bountiful harvest that continues into the winter months.

Fruitscaping™ with Persimmon Trees

Embark on a unique Fruitscaping™ journey with our exquisite selection of Persimmon Trees. We offer both astringent and non-astringent varieties to cater to diverse taste preferences. While astringent persimmons are known for their high tannin content, making them best enjoyed when fully ripe, non-astringent persimmons can be savored crisp, like an apple, without the mouth-puckering sensation.

Persimmon trees are nature’s multi-taskers, adding visual allure, shade, and succulent fruits to your organic garden. They are remarkably resistant to diseases and pests, making them a low-maintenance yet high-reward addition to your Fruitscaping™ endeavors.

Persimmons thrive in well-drained, sandy or loamy soil and prefer slightly acidic conditions. They flourish under full sun exposure, needing at least six hours of sunlight daily to yield a rich crop.

In the Fruitscaping™ design, persimmon trees offer striking ornamental value. Their lush foliage in summer and vibrant, orange-yellow fall colors create a spectacular display. Moreover, the bright orange fruits hanging on the tree after leaf drop offer a unique, decorative touch throughout the winter.

Persimmon trees also prove a fantastic choice for different gardening styles. Whether you choose to shape them into a magnificent espalier or let them grow naturally, they contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of your garden.

Immerse yourself in the rewarding journey of Fruitscaping™ with our Persimmon Trees. From planting and caring to harvesting and enjoying the sweet, honey-like flavor of your homegrown persimmons, each step is filled with delightful experiences. With our astringent and non-astringent varieties, discover the pleasure of growing and savoring your own persimmons.

Shipping Information

Before Your Plants Arrive: You can find many guides on unpacking, planting, & care, on our growing guides page.

The Journey From Our Nursery to Your Door:  We NEVER ship our plants bare root. Your plant will travel in the very container in which it was nurtured. We thoroughly prune and water them before packing, and make sure they’re well wrapped to retain moisture during transit. It’s as though you’ve personally collected them from our nursery!

Choose Your Ship Date: We understand you’ll want to be available when your plant arrives. Our checkout process features a handy calendar that allows you to choose the Monday on which you want your plant to ship. Depending on your location, you’ll likely receive your plant by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of that week. Once shipped, UPS will generate a tracking number and send it to the email you provided. You can then follow your plant’s journey and ensure someone is available to unpack it on arrival day.
