Experience the pure joy of homegrown fruits with our Black Madeira Fig Tree. Recognized nationwide for our dedication to quality, we propagate this highly sought-after variety through cuttings, ensuring robust plants that adapt and thrive in your garden.

The Black Madeira Fig Tree is esteemed for its vigorous growth, generous yields, and its exceptional figs, widely considered one of the best tasting varieties. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a newcomer, cultivating the Black Madeira Fig Tree ensures a fulfilling and rewarding gardening journey.

Our tree yields large, captivating figs with a deep, purple-black color, an intriguing delight sourced from the Island of Madeira, Portugal. Beneath this dark exterior hides a vibrant, dark red pulp, offering a uniquely sweet, jammy flavor. These figs are perfect for savoring fresh off the tree or transforming into a myriad of culinary delights, from preserves to baked goods. The figs ripen from July to August, offering a summer bounty of sweet rewards.

Our cutting grown variant is perfect for warmer climates and offers resilience against common diseases. It delivers large, beautiful figs that are rot-resistant due to their closed-eye nature.

Not just bountiful, the Black Madeira Fig Tree is a stunning addition to any garden. It flaunts lush, deeply lobed green leaves, displaying a unique pattern change during growth – starting and ending with a three-lobed spade shape. This intriguing trait, combined with the superior taste of its figs, has led many to distinguish our Black Madeira Fig Tree as truly special.

Ideal for Fruitscaping™, creating a Mediterranean-themed garden, or simply enjoying the pleasure of homegrown figs, our Black Madeira Fig Tree is a must-have for any fig enthusiast. Fruitscaping™ with Fig Trees

Embrace the joy of Fruitscaping™ with our Fig Trees. Among the simplest and most rewarding fruiting plants to grow, figs are an excellent addition to any organic garden. Their inherent disease resistance and few pest issues can be managed easily without the need for harsh chemicals, ensuring a bountiful, eco-friendly harvest.

Our Fig trees exhibit a diverse palette of flavors, textures, and ripening seasons. Some varieties possess thin skins with succulent centers evoking the flavor of rich maple syrup – a delight when savored fresh from the tree. Other varieties offer a naturally sweet texture, perfect for drying or turning into delectable preserves.

With their compact growth habit, fig trees are perfect for integrating into the shrubbery border, adding an attractive contrast with their broad, deeply lobed leaves. Consider pairing these distinctive trees with the elegant pomegranate and the fine-textured blueberry bushes for a stunning visual mix. Complement this arrangement with a lush undergrowth of strawberries, creating a cycle of blooming flowers, ripening fruit, and vibrant fall colors.

The young fig tree’s smooth, flexible trunk lends itself to creative gardening techniques. Train it into an espalier for a living wall, or twist it into a striking specimen tree. If you’re dealing with limited space, lay the trunk flat against the ground, and watch as the vertical shoots transform into a natural, green hedge.

Fig trees are also well-suited to container gardening. The root restriction of a pot often encourages the tree to produce even more prolific crops. So, if you’re an urban gardener or short on garden space, our fig trees will prove a perfect fit.

Embrace the ease and joy of Fruitscaping™ with Fig Trees. Enjoy the journey from planting and care to the sweet reward of your homegrown figs.

Shipping Information

Before Your Plants Arrive: You can find many guides on unpacking, planting, & care, on our growing guides page.

The Journey From Our Nursery to Your Door:  We NEVER ship our plants bare root. Your plant will travel in the very container in which it was nurtured. We thoroughly prune and water them before packing, and make sure they’re well wrapped to retain moisture during transit. It’s as though you’ve personally collected them from our nursery!

Choose Your Ship Date: We understand you’ll want to be available when your plant arrives. Our checkout process features a handy calendar that allows you to choose the Monday on which you want your plant to ship. Depending on your location, you’ll likely receive your plant by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of that week. Once shipped, UPS will generate a tracking number and send it to the email you provided. You can then follow your plant’s journey and ensure someone is available to unpack it on arrival day.
