Hachiya Persimmon Tree: Bountiful Harvest of Honeyed Bliss

About the Fruit

The Hachiya Persimmon is a culinary delight treasured for its rich, honey-like flavor and smooth, custard texture. This strikingly beautiful fruit, with its bright orange skin, ripens to a soft, almost jelly-like consistency, making it perfect for baking, smoothies, or enjoying fresh. The Hachiya’s versatility and heavenly sweetness make it an indispensable ingredient for gourmet recipes or a luxurious treat to savor on its own.

What to Know About the Tree

Aesthetically pleasing and robust, the Hachiya Persimmon Tree is a deciduous wonder that offers seasonal beauty. In spring, it is adorned with inconspicuous flowers that give way to the vibrant orange persimmons in late fall. With a height of 12-15 feet, showcasing bold, green foliage that transitions to a fiery display of autumn colors before the leaves drop. This tree is not only a fruit-bearing gem but also a striking ornamental presence in any garden.

Anticipation for the Hachiya Persimmon harvest builds as summer wanes and the chill of fall approaches. The fruit typically ripens from late October through December, providing a heartwarming splash of color and flavor during the cool, crisp days of autumn. Harvesting these persimmons at their peak ensures an unforgettable natural confection, rich and soothing in every bite.

Fruitscaping™ with Persimmon Trees

Embark on a unique Fruitscaping™ journey with our exquisite selection of Persimmon Trees. We offer both astringent and non-astringent varieties to cater to diverse taste preferences. While astringent persimmons are known for their high tannin content, making them best enjoyed when fully ripe, non-astringent persimmons can be savored crisp, like an apple, without the mouth-puckering sensation.

Persimmon trees are nature’s multi-taskers, adding visual allure, shade, and succulent fruits to your organic garden. They are remarkably resistant to diseases and pests, making them a low-maintenance yet high-reward addition to your Fruitscaping™ endeavors.

Persimmons thrive in well-drained, sandy or loamy soil and prefer slightly acidic conditions. They flourish under full sun exposure, needing at least six hours of sunlight daily to yield a rich crop.

In the Fruitscaping™ design, persimmon trees offer striking ornamental value. Their lush foliage in summer and vibrant, orange-yellow fall colors create a spectacular display. Moreover, the bright orange fruits hanging on the tree after leaf drop offer a unique, decorative touch throughout the winter.

Persimmon trees also prove a fantastic choice for different gardening styles. Whether you choose to shape them into a magnificent espalier or let them grow naturally, they contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of your garden.

Immerse yourself in the rewarding journey of Fruitscaping™ with our Persimmon Trees. From planting and caring to harvesting and enjoying the sweet, honey-like flavor of your homegrown persimmons, each step is filled with delightful experiences. With our astringent and non-astringent varieties, discover the pleasure of growing and savoring your own persimmons.

Shipping Information

Before Your Plants Arrive: You can find many guides on unpacking, planting, & care, on our growing guides page.

The Journey From Our Nursery to Your Door:  We NEVER ship our plants bare root. Your plant will travel in the very container in which it was nurtured. We thoroughly prune and water them before packing, and make sure they’re well wrapped to retain moisture during transit. It’s as though you’ve personally collected them from our nursery!

Choose Your Ship Date: We understand you’ll want to be available when your plant arrives. Our checkout process features a handy calendar that allows you to choose the Monday on which you want your plant to ship. Depending on your location, you’ll likely receive your plant by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of that week. Once shipped, UPS will generate a tracking number and send it to the email you provided. You can then follow your plant’s journey and ensure someone is available to unpack it on arrival day.
