About the Fruit

Indulge in the exceptional crispness of the 20th Century Asian Pear, a true delight for the senses. This pear variety, also known as ‘Nijisseiki’, is renowned for its refreshing texture and a perfect blend of sweetness and tartness. The fruit’s round shape and attractive, pale yellow skin encase juicy, white flesh that promises a satisfying crunch with every bite. Ideal for fresh snacking, elegant salads, or a healthy addition to lunchboxes, the 20th Century Asian Pear is a versatile choice for any fruit lover’s collection.

What to Know About the Tree

The 20th Century Asian Pear tree is a deciduous delight, offering seasonal beauty and bountiful harvests. This tree is adorned with lovely white flowers in the spring and provides a canopy of lush green foliage throughout the growing season. It stands out with its upright growth habit and is relatively easy to manage, reaching heights of 12-18 feet when fully mature. Its low chill hour requirement makes it an accessible choice for a variety of climates, and with proper care, it will reward you with abundant harvests year after year.

Harvest Season

The harvest season for the 20th Century Asian Pear arrives in late summer to early fall, a time when the garden transitions to the hues of the harvest. The tree becomes a sight to behold as it’s laden with the distinct, pale yellow pears ready for picking. Homegrown pears have never tasted so fresh, providing a delightful contrast to the warm, earthy tones of the season, and offering a refreshing treat that captures the essence of autumn’s bounty.

Shipping Information

Before Your Plants Arrive: You can find many guides on unpacking, planting, & care, on our growing guides page.

The Journey From Our Nursery to Your Door:  We NEVER ship our plants bare root. Your plant will travel in the very container in which it was nurtured. We thoroughly prune and water them before packing, and make sure they’re well wrapped to retain moisture during transit. It’s as though you’ve personally collected them from our nursery!

Choose Your Ship Date: We understand you’ll want to be available when your plant arrives. Our checkout process features a handy calendar that allows you to choose the Monday on which you want your plant to ship. Depending on your location, you’ll likely receive your plant by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of that week. Once shipped, UPS will generate a tracking number and send it to the email you provided. You can then follow your plant’s journey and ensure someone is available to unpack it on arrival day.
