Serene Sand Cord Grass – Bringing Coastal Charm to Your Landscape
About the Bloom
The Sand Cord Grass does not bloom, but it boasts slender, graceful green leaves that sway gently in the breeze, reminiscent of the coastal dunes it calls home. Its foliage adds a touch of tranquility and natural elegance to any garden or landscape.
What to Know About the Plant
This ornamental grass is evergreen, providing year-round interest with its vibrant green color. It grows to a height of 2-4 feet, creating a soft, flowing texture that adds movement and depth to your garden. The Sand Cord Grass features a clumping growth habit, making it easy to maintain and a versatile addition to borders, containers, or naturalized areas.
Enhancing your Fruitscape
Pair the Serene Sand Cord Grass with fruit trees like Citrus or Fig for a coastal-inspired theme in your fruitscape. The graceful foliage of this ornamental grass complements the lush, tropical look of Citrus trees, creating a harmonious blend of textures. Add a touch of Mediterranean charm with a Fig tree, whose broad leaves and sweet fruits offer a delightful contrast to the fine blades of the Sand Cord Grass. For a pop of color, consider planting edible herbs like Thyme or Sage around the base of the grass, adding both visual interest and culinary versatility to your landscape design.

Landscaping with Grasses
These grasses are so incredibly lovely to use in the landscape because they can be used in so many ways. They can border a bed or be the centerpiece. They can be scattered throughout to create tuffs of texture to contrast your shrubs and trees. Or they can be neatly mixed in with flowers to accentuate the colors and shapes. We love these grasses because of all the fun we have planting them and watching them grow to be such a joy.
Recommended Fertilizers for Planting and Maintenance
- Starter Fertilizer:  Plant with Espoma Organic Bio-tone® Starter Plus. This will increase root mass and help avoid transplant loss in difficult planting conditions.

Growing Guide
Currently, we only have growing guides for our edible plants.  We are working on them for our ornamental & landscaping plants, and will add them in the near future. Contact us if you have questions on how to plant and nurture your Grasses, and we will be glad to have one of our gardeners assist you.
Ornamental & Landscaping Plants at Just Fruits & Exotics
Although Just Fruits and Exotics has been providing ornamental and landscaping plants to customers at our nursery since we added “Exotics” to our name in the 1990’s, we never had them available to our customers online.
However, September of 2018, with the launch of our updated Just Fruits and Exotics website, we added many of our ornamental and landscaping plants to our online store for our customers nationwide.  We encourage you to “Fruitscape†your yards, mixing edibles and ornamentals to make your own edible garden.

Shipping Information
Before Your Plants Arrive: You can find many guides on unpacking, planting, & care, on our growing guides page.
The Journey From Our Nursery to Your Door: We NEVER ship our plants bare root. Your plant will travel in the very container in which it was nurtured. We thoroughly prune and water them before packing, and make sure they’re well wrapped to retain moisture during transit. It’s as though you’ve personally collected them from our nursery!
Choose Your Ship Date: We understand you’ll want to be available when your plant arrives. Our checkout process features a handy calendar that allows you to choose the Monday on which you want your plant to ship. Depending on your location, you’ll likely receive your plant by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of that week. Once shipped, UPS will generate a tracking number and send it to the email you provided. You can then follow your plant’s journey and ensure someone is available to unpack it on arrival day.
