Product Description

LSU Gold Fig Tree – A Golden Harvest of Flavor and Vigor

Indulge in the distinctive flavor of the South with our LSU Gold Fig Tree. Developed at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Agricultural Center, this variety is celebrated for its large, flavorful, golden fruits.

Our LSU Gold Fig Tree produces a plentiful harvest of sizeable, yellow-skinned figs that evoke the warmth of Southern sunshine. Beneath the golden exterior, a sweet, honey-like pulp is revealed. These figs are a delight to enjoy fresh from the tree, but they’re also perfect for preserves, baking, or dried for a natural sweet treat.

Anticipate a generous harvest from mid to late summer, enriching your garden with its sweet, golden bounty. Despite its abundant yield, the LSU Gold Fig Tree maintains a robust and manageable growth habit, making it suitable for sizable gardens, container growth, or as a dynamic addition to your landscape.

The LSU Gold Fig Tree is a hardy variety, exhibiting resistance to common fig diseases and pests. As a self-fertile tree, there’s no need for a second tree for cross-pollination – a single LSU Gold Fig Tree will ensure a vibrant, plentiful harvest!

Aesthetically, this tree boasts lush, deeply lobed green leaves that contrast wonderfully with the golden figs, offering a visually pleasing tableau throughout the growing season.

Perfect for Fruitscaping™, bringing a taste of the South to your garden, or simply for the joy of tasting your own figs, our LSU Gold Fig Tree is an exceptional choice. Order today and anticipate the pleasure of homegrown, golden figs, right at your fingertips.

Fruitscaping™ with Fig Trees

Embrace the joy of Fruitscaping™ with our Fig Trees. Among the simplest and most rewarding fruiting plants to grow, figs are an excellent addition to any organic garden. Their inherent disease resistance and few pest issues can be managed easily without the need for harsh chemicals, ensuring a bountiful, eco-friendly harvest.

Our Fig trees exhibit a diverse palette of flavors, textures, and ripening seasons. Some varieties possess thin skins with succulent centers evoking the flavor of rich maple syrup – a delight when savored fresh from the tree. Other varieties offer a naturally sweet texture, perfect for drying or turning into delectable preserves.

With their compact growth habit, fig trees are perfect for integrating into the shrubbery border, adding an attractive contrast with their broad, deeply lobed leaves. Consider pairing these distinctive trees with the elegant pomegranate and the fine-textured blueberry bushes for a stunning visual mix. Complement this arrangement with a lush undergrowth of strawberries, creating a cycle of blooming flowers, ripening fruit, and vibrant fall colors.

The young fig tree’s smooth, flexible trunk lends itself to creative gardening techniques. Train it into an espalier for a living wall, or twist it into a striking specimen tree. If you’re dealing with limited space, lay the trunk flat against the ground, and watch as the vertical shoots transform into a natural, green hedge.

Fig trees are also well-suited to container gardening. The root restriction of a pot often encourages the tree to produce even more prolific crops. So, if you’re an urban gardener or short on garden space, our fig trees will prove a perfect fit.

Embrace the ease and joy of Fruitscaping™ with Fig Trees. Enjoy the journey from planting and care to the sweet reward of your homegrown figs.

Shipping Information

Before Your Plants Arrive: You can find many guides on unpacking, planting, & care, on our growing guides page.

The Journey From Our Nursery to Your Door:  We NEVER ship our plants bare root. Your plant will travel in the very container in which it was nurtured. We thoroughly prune and water them before packing, and make sure they’re well wrapped to retain moisture during transit. It’s as though you’ve personally collected them from our nursery!

Choose Your Ship Date: We understand you’ll want to be available when your plant arrives. Our checkout process features a handy calendar that allows you to choose the Monday on which you want your plant to ship. Depending on your location, you’ll likely receive your plant by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of that week. Once shipped, UPS will generate a tracking number and send it to the email you provided. You can then follow your plant’s journey and ensure someone is available to unpack it on arrival day.
