Florida Flame Native Azalea Bush – Winner of the Rhododendron of the Year Award

This award winning deciduous flowering shrub, found in hardwood, floodplain, and slope forests bluffs and ravines in North Florida, has been noted for its incredibly brilliant golden blossoms and rich honeysuckle fragrance in Spring. The blooms attract hummingbirds, butterflies and bees and is a state listed endangered species.  Flowers are yellow to orange with long, trumpet shaped corolla that are covered in sticky, glad-tipped hairs. Flowers form in clusters. Leaves are simple, elliptic to ovate with minutely toothed margins that turn bronze-orange in fall.

Native to Floridas Panhandle and Southern Georgia this loose, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub is heat tolerant and performs well in hot climates. Mildew resistant it is not adapted to cool summer areas. Florida Flame Azalea is a showy native azalea, a valuable addition near a patio and around the home. Works well as a specimen or in a mass planting.

Landscaping with Azalea Bushes

Azaleas are a southern classic for good reason. They grow incredibly well and look great year round. In the spring you are greeted with an explosion of color and fragrance. The healthy plants seem to have as many buds and blooms as they do leaves. All year round the evergreen leaves will add a lush vibe to your yard. Because Chinese azaleas are evergreen, they make wonderful borders, hedges and even privacy screens. The uses for azaleas in the landscape are endless and add a touch of southern charm to any home.

Shipping Information

Before Your Plants Arrive: You can find many guides on unpacking, planting, & care, on our growing guides page.

The Journey From Our Nursery to Your Door:  We NEVER ship our plants bare root. Your plant will travel in the very container in which it was nurtured. We thoroughly prune and water them before packing, and make sure they’re well wrapped to retain moisture during transit. It’s as though you’ve personally collected them from our nursery!

Choose Your Ship Date: We understand you’ll want to be available when your plant arrives. Our checkout process features a handy calendar that allows you to choose the Monday on which you want your plant to ship. Depending on your location, you’ll likely receive your plant by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of that week. Once shipped, UPS will generate a tracking number and send it to the email you provided. You can then follow your plant’s journey and ensure someone is available to unpack it on arrival day.
