Mandarin Melonberry

Mail Order Season begins in mid October 2014. Taking orders now!

For folks who can make the trip to the nursery, we're open year round except for part of July/August and Holidays. Come see us from Wednesday through Sunday, 9:05-5:08PM EST.

For all our local customers (and anyone willing to make the trip & save money!) we have our Pickup at Nursery Price List available.

Beautiful, small, rounded tree with broad olive- green leaves. The tree hangs heavy with red raspberry-like fruit in the late summer. The fruit has a sweet, cantaloupe melon flavor. Our trees are grafted on Osage Orange to ensure early heavy fruit production without troublesome root suckers. Mandarin Melon Berries prefer well-drained soils and full sun.

Varieties (Cudrania tricuspidata)

Sorry, not available at this time.

Darrow Female Mandarin Melon Berry DARROW FEMALE Medium size, up to 1/2 fruit. Beautiful purple blush over a pale red background. Sweet and juicy with a nice chewy texture. Distinct cantaloupe flavor. Even though it will drop its fruit when young we've found it does best without a Male and produces seedless fruits after a few years. Ripens July-August. Zones 6-10. $45.99 3 gal (4-5ft).

Just the Facts

Not sure what to do with mandarin melon berries or how to grow them right? DON'T PANIC! Push the panic button and we will give you "Just the Facts" you need to successfully grow them.

Mandarin Melon Berries in the Landscape

Mandarin Melon Berry grows to be a big shade tree, if its size is not controlled by pruning (an option for smaller yards). Make it a centerpiece, surrounded by flower beds.

And as a major plus, this one is an organic gardener's dream- absolutely no spraying required and it's tough as nails once established.
