Elephant Ears

Mail Order Season begins in mid October 2014. Taking orders now!

For folks who can make the trip to the nursery, we're open year round except for part of July/August and Holidays. Come see us from Wednesday through Sunday, 9:05-5:08PM EST.

For all our local customers (and anyone willing to make the trip & save money!) we have our Pickup at Nursery Price List available.

What could be more dramatic than giant elephant ears interplanted with bananas and gingers? Or what could be better than a black elephant ear understory with lime green angel trumpets above? There are all sizes, shapes and colors to choose from.

Odora Taro Odora -- (Alocasia odora): Pleated, bright green foliage makes a great contrast with other varieties. Clumping variety. Mature height 2-3ft. Part to full sun. Zones 7-10. $12.99

Portadora Taro Portodora -- (Alocasia x portora 'Portodora): This superb alocasia hybrid was selected by Ron Weeks from seedlings of an Alocasia x portora cross (Alocasia odora x Alocasia portei), made by LariAnn Garner of Aroidia Research. Alocasia 'Portodora' makes a stunning upright clump that is essentially an improved Alocasia macrorrhizos. Tall grower with a ruffle-edged leaf. This huge, non-aggressive species is the perfect centerpiece for a tropical garden. Mature height 6-8 feet. Part to full sun. Zones 7-10. $29.99, $15 boxing charge applies to this one because it's huge (or it can be packed with up to 3 other items in a single box!).

Black Magic Taro Black Magic Taro -- (Colocasia esculenta): Dusty black leaves that like part to full sun. Plant with bananas and gingers to make a feast for your eyes and table. Mature height 4-5ft. Part to full sun. Zones 7-10. $12.99

Illustris Taro Illustris Taro -- (Colocasia esculenta): Dusty black leaves with awesome green veins and midribs make this taro a jungle garden delight. Looks great with Black Magic Taro. Mature height 2-3ft. Part shade to full sun. Zones 7b-10. $12.99

Lime Zinger Lime Zinger Taro -- (Xanthosoma aurea): Lime green, heart-shaped leaves make this one a must have contrast. Plant with Black Magic Taro for a shocking effect. Clumping variety. Mature height 3-4ft. Part shade to part sun. Zones 8-10. $12.99

Mojito Taro (Colocasia 'Mojito'): We all fell in love with this variegated elephant ear found here in Florida. Big green leaves with dark purplish black flecks, splashes and splotches. Each leaf is different! Mature height 3ft. Sun to part shade. Zones 8-10. $12.99
