Angel Trumpets
Angel trumpets are one of the most wonderful ornamentals for a tropical garden. These beauties are reliable in Zones 8-10, freezing down and returning in spring from a strong, buried root system. The plants grow very quicky, reaching up to 15-20 feet per summer in some varieties. But what is really dramatic about angel trumpets is the synchronous bloom at approximately 3-5 week intervals. The photo of Versicolor Pink Brugmansia above shows the first part of the flower show. As the buds elongate, they turn from pale yellow to a sweet pink, opening fully and releasing their fragrance at night. A large plant may have over 100 blooms with each flush and the flowers last approximately a week. What a show! The number of varieties is ever increasing, varying in height, shape, color and bloom cycle. Check back as we'll be adding varieties as the collection grows.
Cypress Garden This has one of the longest flowers of the family. The more
sun, the more flowers. Easy to grow, not fussy about soil. Brugmansia x Candida 6-8 feet.
Jean Pasco Giant flowers are golden-yellow, tinged with red-orange. Deliciously sweet fragrance! 8-12 feet.
Versicolor Pink. This variety holds the record for the most blooms. Constant
show of 6-8" wide bells. Bud stage is yellow, opens to soft pink. 6-8 feet.
